education loans scheme |
Higher
Education Loan Programme (HELP) 2005 From 2005 a loans scheme called the Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) will be introduced. FEE-HELP is a loan facility to assist eligible students who are enrolled in fee-paying postgraduate courses, including research degrees, at an approved higher education provider. FEE-HELP enables eligible fee paying students to pay all or part of their tuition fees. The Commonwealth pays the amount of the loan directly to the studentŐs institution. Students repay their loan through the taxation system once their income reaches the minimum threshold for compulsory repayment. Australian citizens and holders of a permanent humanitarian visa are eligible for FEE-HELP. Students may obtain FEE-HELP for accredited postgraduate award programmes including higher degrees by research. Eligible students can borrow up to the limit of the tuition fee charged by their provider. No loan fee applies to a FEE-HELP loan for fee paying postgraduate study. For further information about FEE-HELP: http://www.dest.gov.au/highered/hesat/fact_sheets/4.pdf. |
