RMIT Intermesh Symposium: Exchanges in Fashion and Textiles presented by RMIT FASHION, in association with the 5th International Shibori Symposium, attracted 160 delegates from nine countries and focussed on the relationships between traditional and contemporary textile techniques, surface treatments and contemporary fashion design. The Symposium provided a space for practitioners and academics to experience the intermesh between theory and practice and promoted discourse and debate relating to exchanges: cultural, technical, sociological, reflective and regional, in areas including fashion, textiles, pattern and surface decoration.
